WCM-Q offers new course in forensic medicine in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior.
Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar (WCM-Q) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Interior to create a framework which will allow medical students to take an optional course in forensic medicine.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Interior on September 21 by Major General Abdullah Muhammad Al-Suwaidi, assistant director of public security, and Dr. Javaid Sheikh, dean of WCM-Q, in the presence of a number of officers from the Ministry of Interior and college faculty. The new course will be provided in cooperation with the Forensic Medicine Center at the Ministry of Interior.
Major General Al-Suwaidi said that forensic medicine is one of the main pillars of achieving justice, uncovering crime, decoding its ambiguity and helping the judiciary, prosecution and investigative officers find the perpetrators of criminal acts.
He explained that the agreement between WCM-Q and the Forensic Medicine Center will lead to college faculty working with staff at the Forensic Medicine Center to provide educational curricula and training in forensic medicine. This will allow the graduates to provide support in establishing security, safety and justice in Qatar and other countries around the world.
